SUMMARY:BSO: A November Night's Tale
DESCRIPTION:Lose yourself in a world of music\, fantastical tales and vivid imagination. This captivating concert invites you on a journey through sound and storytelling — beginning with the playful chaos of Strauss’ Overture to Die Fledermaus\, where mistaken identities and a man disguised as a bat set the stage for laughter and intrigue. Lose yourself in the haunting beauty of Barber’s Adagio for Strings\, a moment of profound stillness and reflection. From there\, we plunge into the whimsical and dramatic life of an imaginary soldier in Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kijé Suite\, before being swept away to the enchanted world of Scheherazade\, where Rimsky-Korsakov brings to life the exotic romance and mystery of the Arabian Nights. This is not just a concert — it’s an odyssey of the imagination.

SUMMARY:BATS: Come From Away
DESCRIPTION:Amidst the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001\, 38 planes carrying nearly 7\,000 passengers were diverted to land in the town of Gander\, Canada. During one of humanity’s darkest times\, this true story captures the spirit of kindness\, resilience\, and human connection between the locals and the ‘come from aways’ in the days that followed.

SUMMARY:BCS: An evening with Brahms
DESCRIPTION:Brahms Requiem and Song of Destiny\nOrchestra: Docklands Sinfonia\nSoloists:  Ross Cummings – Baritone\, Sofia Ticciati – Soprano\nConductor: Jordan Theis \nBrahms gained recognition as a composer\, pianist\, and conductor\, and wrote numerous works\, but his German Requiem is the only one for a large-scale choral work. It was met with immediate success\, establishing him as a major force in European music. The beautiful fourth movement\, How Lovely are Thy Dwellings\, will be particularly familiar\, as it is often performed as a single piece in its own right. \nTo this day\, the Requiem remains one of the most beloved works in the choral repertoire\, not only for its grace but for its comforting message of hope for the living – a reflection on life\, loss\, and consolation. \nAnd why not come along to our Free pre-concert talk at 6:30 about the works we are performing?
